Privacy Policy

How WeMetOnce handles information, privacy choices and account security

Last updated: August 2026. This policy is a practical disclosure for the current WeMetOnce service and should be reviewed with qualified legal counsel for jurisdictions in which the service operates.

1. Information We Collect

We may collect information you provide directly, including your name, username, email address, city, state, country, profile details, relationship information, posts, messages, reports, privacy choices and other information you choose to add. We may also collect technical information needed to operate and secure the service, such as device, browser, IP address, session and diagnostic information.

2. Google Sign-In

If you choose to sign in with Google, Google provides WeMetOnce with information permitted by your Google account and the authorization screen, such as your name, email address and profile picture. We use that information to authenticate your account and provide the WeMetOnce service. We do not receive your Google password. Google's own privacy terms and policies also apply to Google's processing of your information.

3. Information About Other People

WeMetOnce is designed for reconnecting with people from the past. If you create a post about another person, you are responsible for using only information you are permitted to share. Do not publish sensitive personal information, exact home addresses, phone numbers, private email addresses, government identifiers, financial information or other information that could create a safety or privacy risk.

4. Privacy Controls

Where available, you can choose who may see individual profile fields. Depending on the feature, choices may include public visibility, registered members, connections only, or private/only me. We apply these choices when displaying profile information. A field marked private is not intentionally displayed to people who are not authorized by that setting.

5. How We Use Information

We use information to provide and improve WeMetOnce, authenticate accounts, display posts and profiles according to privacy settings, facilitate consent-based connections and messaging, provide notifications, prevent abuse, investigate reports, maintain security, provide customer support, measure service performance and comply with legal obligations.

6. User-Generated Content and Sharing

Profiles, posts and other content may be visible to other users according to your privacy settings and the platform features you use. If you enable a setting that permits a post or link to be shared, other people may copy or share that content. Privacy controls cannot prevent someone who has legitimately viewed information from independently recording or reproducing it.

7. Messages, Connections and Safety

Connection-based messaging is designed to operate between users who have an appropriate connection. We may process messages and related metadata to deliver messages, provide notifications, enforce safety rules, investigate reports and protect the service. Users can disconnect, report or block other users through available controls.

8. Advertising, Cookies and Similar Technologies

We may use cookies, local storage and similar technologies for essential functionality, security, analytics and, after appropriate setup and consent where required, advertising. If Google AdSense or another advertising provider is enabled, that provider and its partners may use cookies, web beacons, IP addresses or similar identifiers to serve, measure and personalize advertising as permitted by applicable law and the choices available to you.

9. Sharing of Information

We may share information with service providers that help operate the platform, such as hosting, database, authentication, security, analytics and communications providers, subject to appropriate safeguards. We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect rights and safety, or in connection with a lawful business transaction. We do not sell private account information to other members.

10. International Processing

WeMetOnce may be accessed internationally and service providers may process information in countries other than where you live. Where required, we will use appropriate safeguards for international transfers.

11. Data Retention and Deletion

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, maintain security, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, comply with legal obligations and protect legitimate interests. Some security, fraud-prevention or moderation records may need to be retained longer. Where account deletion is available, we will process deletion according to the service's controls and applicable legal requirements.

12. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to certain processing, withdraw consent where processing is based on consent, and request a copy of certain information. You may also manage profile visibility and remove content through available account controls.

13. Children's Privacy

WeMetOnce is not intended for children under the minimum age required by applicable law. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children where prohibited by law.

14. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information, including access controls, encrypted connections, authentication safeguards and moderation controls. No internet service can guarantee absolute security.

15. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy when our services, technology, legal obligations or service providers change. We will update the date above and provide additional notice where required.
